　　It was raining when Tom was on his way home. He opened his umbrella andwalked faster. Suddenly he saw an old woman staggering forward with a stick inher hand. She hadn't got an umbrella with her and was wet all over. Tom went upto her and tried to share his umbrella with her. But the old woman was tall andhe was too short to hold it high enough. Then he saw the old woman's stick and agood idea came to him. He tried hard to tie the stick to the handle of theumbrella. Then the umbrella was long enough for both of them. The old womanthanked him again and again. Then they went on walking home.

　　A few years ago, I went to Beijing. I really had a great time there.

　　The first time I went to Beijing, I was very confused. Beijing was verybig. It was so big that I couldn’t find the right directions. And the trafficwas always so busy.

　　During my staying in Beijing, I visited so many places of interest, such asthe Great Wall, Tiannmen Square, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, and soon. I also went to Wangfujing shopping mall. But things were very expensive. SoI just did the window shopping.

　　What’s more, the most exciting thing for me was taking the underground.Although it was crowded, I still felt excited. Because I could follow the stepsof the modern city.
