1. Study the words in this lesson:

2. Train the students’ reading skills and improve their ability of reading comprehension;

3. Let the students know more about the uses of computers in many fields.

1. Train the students’ reading skills such as skimming,scanning and critical reading;

2. Improve their ability of reading comprehension.

教學(xué)步驟(Teaching procedures):

1. Greetings.

2. Revise the words in this lesson.

Show Slide One. Ask the students to the words twice each in chorus and then the teacher says these words in Chinese and ask them to speak English, or conversely.

3. Lead-in.

Now let’s begin a new lesson “Lesson 66 Life in the Future”. Show Slide Two. If you are asked to write a passage named “Life in the Future”,what will you write about? Will you write about space rockets, computers, cars, education, science and technology, pollution, wars, and on? Now I’ll show you a few pictures first. Show Slide Three. The teacher says something about the four pictures. One of them is an ATM. One is a modern car. The other two are robots. After that the teacher asks a few students to say what they will write about the life in the future?

4. Show Slide Four. Ask the question on it. Then say “Listen to the tape and answer the question”.

5. Then show Five. Ask the students to listen to the tape and look at the text.

6. Answer more questions after reading the text. (Show Slide Six) Ask the some students to answer them individually.

7. Do multiple choices according to the text. (Show Slide Seven) First allow the students three minutes and then ask a few students to give their answers.

8. Note making. Ask the students to fill in the words in italics. (Show Slide Eight)

9. Ask the students to say the main idea of each paragraph.. (Show Slide Nine)

10. Complete the passage by filling the blanks. (Show Slide Ten)

11. Homework.

Ask the students to read the text and try to retell it in their own words. Show Slide Eleven ending the class.
