Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Revision

T：when we meet someone at the first time，we should say nice to meet you or shake hands right?

S: Yes.And we also should hug.

T: Right. You’re supposed to shake hands and hug.

Ask students to show their reports about different countries different custom.

Step 2 New words

Show the new words on the screen .Teach the new words and read the new words to students.

Step 3 1a

Ask the students to look at the map of the world on the screen..And explain where each of the countries is.

Ask different students to act out the action described by each word or phrase-bow, shake hands, and kiss.

Read the instructions again and ask students to match the customs lettered a, b and c with the numbered countries.

Look at the sample answer. Tall students to guess if they aren’t sure.

Step 4 Listening 1b

Go through the instructions with the class. Point to the lists in Activity la and say, Now you will hear a conversation between a boy and a girl. Their conversation contains the answers to the questions in.Please listen and check your answers.

Step 5 Pairwork

Point out the example in the box 1c. Ask two students to read it to the class.And then talk about other countries and customs they know about.

S1: What are people in Korea supposed to do when they meet for the first time？
